Budget 2026 Announces Three Dedicated Chemical Parks to Boost Domestic Chemical Manufacturing and Reduce Import Dependence

Latest News and Updates

Budget 2026-27 announces establishment of three dedicated chemical parks designed to accelerate domestic chemical manufacturing capabilities across specialty chemicals, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, and pharmaceutical intermediates. These integrated chemical parks will feature world-class infrastructure including centralized effluent treatment facilities, common solvent recovery units, analytical testing laboratories, pilot plant facilities, and hazardous waste management systems meeting international environmental standards. The parks target development of critical chemical value chains including fluorochemicals, electronic grade chemicals for semiconductor manufacturing, battery chemicals for EV industry, specialty polymers for advanced applications, and active pharmaceutical ingredients for healthcare sector. Key benefits include access to dedicated chemical industrial zones with appropriate safety and environmental infrastructure, shared research and development facilities, preferential raw material supply arrangements, streamlined regulatory clearances, and export facilitation services. The initiative aims to reduce India's import bill for specialty chemicals, create high-skilled employment in chemical engineering and process technology, attract global chemical companies for technology partnerships, and establish India as reliable supplier of quality chemicals to global markets while maintaining strict environmental compliance and safety standards.
